Solar Energy Systems
SOLAR ENERGY - THE WAY FORWARD
The UK enjoys up to 60% of the equators sun energy
making solar systems viable & efficient energy sources.
Solar is "Earth friendly" GHG free, silent & unobtrusive
- solar pv electic systems
- solar thermal heating systems
- heat pump heating systems - GSHP, ASHP

Solar pv electric systems
Solar PV electric systems are simple & reliable, converting sun
energy to electricity - DC inverted to AC power.
Generated electricity is used by the consumer with the
potential of profiting via Government Feed in Tariffs (FIT)
Generation Tariff & Export Tariff schemes
Solar electricity system advantages:

- Generate free electricity from sun energy light
- Inexhaustible power source
- Green house gas (GHG) emission free
-
Silent, environmentally friendly
- Maintainance free operation
Solar PV system site requirements:
- South facing ideally + 35 deg pitched roof area
- Roof area not affected by shade
- Roof area approx 20 sq metres for 2.5kW solar PV array

Solar thermal heating systems

Solar water heating systems use the suns radiated
heat to produce hot water and work with conventional
water heating systems. Governments recently announced
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) encourages the use of
renewable heating by paying a tariff for every kW of heat
produced by solar heating systems.
Solar thermal heating system advantages:
- Uses free sun energy to provide hot water

- Green house gas (GHG) emission free
- Environment friendly & silent
- Maintainance free operation
Solar thermal system site requirements:
- South facing ideally + 35 deg pitched roof area
- Roof area not affected by shade
- Roof area suitable for planned installation

Heat Pump Heating Systems
A well designed and correctly installed heat pump
can account for all your heating and hot water
requirements providing a far greater efficiency than
conventional boiler systems. There is no combustion
therefore no harmful green house gases (GHG)
Air source heat pumps (ASHP) are well suited for
smaller properties as they require less space as
heat is extract from the air.
Ground source heat pumps require larger areas
of ground space due to ground heat extraction.
Heat pumps require very little maintenance.
Ground source heat pumps:
The technology used by ground source heat pumps
is the same as that used in refrigerators.
Just as a fridge extracts heat from food and expels
it into the kitchen, so a ground source heat pump
extracts heat from the earth and pumps it into a building.
Ground source heat pumps use pipes buried in the
garden to absorb heat from the ground and use
it for space heating and hot water.
Air source heat pumps
Air source heat pumps harness solar energy
found in the outdoor air. With this system there
is no need for digging or drilling and installation is
very quick and simple. It is ideal for urban sites
where there is very little ground space.
Heat Pumps and Under Floor Heating
Heat pumps work very efficiently with Under Floor Heating
suitable best for new builds
